I am not used to seeing Volkswagen cars in different forms because I am used to seeing Beetles whenever I see the brand. This changed when I started to collect diecast cars that showed me there are other Volkswagen cars beside Beetles. The '90 Volkswagen GOLF is a good example. It is a bit old and I have seen newer versions of this car on roads, but those still retain the features of this '90s car.
The '90 GOLF is one of the more detailed Matchbox mainline cars. It has details in the interior, windshield, side mirrors, and spare tire. The bumper has slots to show the front, and it has some lights on the bottom sides and a large blank rectangular area in the center. I assume that area is for the license plate holder.
The paint designs are very minimal in this model. All paint designs are on the sides, with a text logo and some forest or mountain pattern.
I find it a bit unusual that the plastic base of the '90 GOLF has a similar color as the body. I have yet to see an actual model with that kind of chassis color!
